The expansion of the Sustainable Department means we are now looking for a Junior Sustainability Specialist, to be based in Visé, Belgium and reporting to the Decarbonization Manager.

As a Junior Sustainability Specialist you would be supporting Knauf Insulation’s sustainability journey by processing, consolidating, publishing, and analyzing ESG data (CO2, water, emissions, waste, etc.) from plants/industrial operations, the Knauf Group, external sources, and other internal departments. You would help deliver the sustainability strategy and long‑term targets—especially carbon reduction—by contributing to the sustainability roadmap reporting to the Knauf Group in our ESG software Sphera, ensuring project consistency.
By ensuring data quality, reliability, and access via the sustainability Tableau dashboards, you would improve overall reporting and the use of data in technical development, subsidy cases, and ESG ratings (e.g., CDP, EcoVadis), increasing project approval rates and embedding sustainability in decision‑making. You would also perform long‑term analyses for strategic projects and drive continuous improvement in data collection, processing, and reporting (e.g., automation, expanded datasets).
What you’ll be doing:
Manage sustainability data (CO2, water, emissions, waste and more):
Collect from the various sources and perform CO2 calculation when necessary
Perform QA/QC of the data
Publish the data in Tableau
Maintain and further develop Sustainability Dashboards in Tableau
Document decisions, store evidence and create procedures for sustainability data treatment
Continuous improvement of all steps of the sustainability data processing
Analyses sustainability data (long-term approach, scenario/projections)
Support requests of data from regional & plant teams
Support the organization of regional sustainability workshops
Coordinate the sustainability roadmap reporting to Knauf in Sphera and ensure its quality and consistency, also integrating the input from the decarbonization manager & circular economy manager
Create resources to inform and train colleagues on sustainability topics related to data or specific sustainability topics linked to decarbonization or water consumption reduction
Provide data for ESG rating reporting (CDP, Ecovadis, …) or customer requests
Propose and implement new ways to create impact with sustainability data for:
Subsidy application
Internal project approval
External & internal communication about Knauf Insulation’s sustainability journey or sustainability activities in general
Expected business travels is 25% of time.
What we’d love for you to have:

What we’d love for you to have:
A master’s degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or business with a technical background ideally with a first experience in an industrial environment or related to industry
Interest in sustainability topics, and specifically climate change
Experience with sustainability data and reporting is a plus
IT enthusiast with a hands-on approach and ability to self-learn, proficient with presentation/data visualization skills
Familiarity with the office suite
Experience with Tableau or similar BI tool is a plus
Knowledge of GHG Protocol standards is a strong plus
Languages: Fluent in English. Additional languages like French or German are an asset
Organizational skills: ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
Team player: ability to work with other teams, coordinate input and provide feedback
Pragmatic and good analytical skills: ability to see the bigger picture but to deep dive in details if necessary
Self-motivated, autonomous and willing to take initiative
