The expansion of the Engineering Department means we are now looking to recruit a new Commissioning Manager in Visé, Belgium or Skofja Loka, Slovenia and reporting to the Head of Project Management.

As Commissioning Manager, you'd be in charge of the commissioning of capital investment projects, starting with factory acceptance tests until production start-up's. Your main stakeholders would be engineering project manager, technology and construction team, suppliers, plant or start-up team for major projects. Your first concern during all commissioning activities would be the safety, following KI values and policies. You would also ensure compliance to all local laws.
You would also deliver all technical files to the internal user, starting with temporary documentation, before the production start-up, and would also deliver the ‘as-built’ packages before the SAT’s (site acceptance test, done with the plant team before closing the OEM contract).
The commissioning manager will also take care of the engineering ‘after-sales’ service, coordinating the activities from the central engineering service and organize the actions from equipment suppliers during the machine warranty period.
As well, the Commissioning Manager will participate to the project's achievement in compliance with laws, company's policies, procedures and values. He will liaise with engineering, Project Manager and project team, contractors, plant organization and local authorities
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure that safe systems are in place for all commissioning activities (working permit and LOTO being key during testing and start-up phases)
- Staff and manage the site commissioning organization, composed of KI and non-KI people
- Clarify KI commissioning strategy to OEM suppliers, define their deliverables
- Define and follow-up the commissioning program (schedule and budget)
- Follow-up the delivery and hand-over of project technical files to plant team.
- Sign commissioning time sheets
- Provide technical liaison to resolve technical problems as they arise from construction, engineering, inspection, vendors visits
- Coordinate engineering activities and contractors support after plant start-up and during the warranty phase
- Chair daily and weekly meetings about commissioning
- Publish a weekly report showing the progress of commissioning activities. This can be mutli-sites
- Share information for the engineering monthly project report
- Publish the technical files tracking tool
- Participates 40% of your time in activities that are directly related to research and development. These activities are interdependent on projects that are validated by management in direct relation to the Group's strategy. These activities correspond to the criteria of novelty, creativity, uncertainty, systematic and transferable.
What we’d love for you to have:
We are interested in you as a person; your attitude, behaviors and values. As long as you have the willingness to learn anything you need for the role that you don't already have, we'd love to speak to you. We're looking for someone who has a strong technical background with problem solving mindset.
You also have:
- Engineer or equivalent by experience, with at least 10 years of seniority in construction sites and/or equipment commissioning
- The willingness to travel 50% of your working time
- Strong leadership skills
- Agility in matrix and multi-cultural organizations
- Good understanding of mechanical systems
- Good knowledge of controls (Siemens/Allen Bradley) and instrumentation, as well as combustion systems
- Organization skills and capacity to work autonomously
If you have experience in the following areas – this is an added advantage:
- Languages: Fluent in English. French, Dutch or German is an asset
- A project management certification would be preferred
- Knowledge of MS office is expected
